The functions of the Tailte Éireann-Valuation are principally set out in the Valuation Act 2001, as amended. A number of Statutory Instruments are also in place.

The purpose of the code is to provide precise definitions to permit accurate measurement of buildings for rating purposes on a consistent basis.
