Mapping Checklist
Please note: The following list is not exhaustive, but it does comprise the most common reasons why a map may not be acceptable for registration purposes.
Document Required – Map
- Maps lodged at 1:5,000 or 1:10,000 scale may not be acceptable for registration purposes in hard copy form. (See note on Mapping Guide 1)
- If you choose to lodge a hard copy Tailte Éireann - Surveying Map, the map lodged must be an original Tailte Éireann - Surveying 'Land Registry Compliant Map’ referencing the ITM coordinate system. (See Section 1.1, Mapping Guide 1)
- If you choose to lodge a Tailte Éireann Registration map product, the map lodged must be an original Land Registry ‘Title Plan’, ‘Special Registration Map’ or ‘Official Map Search’. (See Section 1.1, Mapping Guide 1)
- If you choose to lodge a Computer-Generated Map the plan must comply with the Land Registry’s current requirements for Computer Generated (Hard Copy) Maps. (See Mapping Guide 4)
- If you choose to lodge a CAD file the plan must comply with the Land Registry’s current requirements for lodging boundary geometry in a CAD file. (See Mapping guide 7(a))
- The map scale must be quoted, and the map must be true to scale.
- Where possible and appropriate the map supplied must be capable of being accurately related to Tailte Éireann - Surveying topographic detail on the ITM coordinate Registry map. (See Rule 146(4) of LR Rules 2012)
- Boundaries must be clearly and unambiguously defined. (Rule 53 of LR Rules 2012)
- If the property is located within a development and an approved scheme map exists, the map lodged must comply with the Land Registry’s current requirements for Development Schemes and be a copy of the scheme map bearing a current Land Registry approval stamp. (See Mapping Guide 3)
- If the property is located within a multi-story development and an approved multi-Storey development map exists, the map lodged must comply with the Land Registry’s current requirements for multi-storey developments and be a copy of the multi-storey map bearing a current Land Registry approval stamp. - The floor plan lodged for multi-storey registrations must identify the ‘Floor Level’. (See Mapping Guide 5(a))
- Masking tape or correction fluid must not be used on maps.
